Pipol's Power launches in Bukidnon

The Pipol's Power campaign was launched in Bukidnon, home of the Pulangi River, last Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the People's Park of Maramag, Bukidnon. Led by the Mindanao Commission on Women (MCW) and the Pulangiyon-Manobo-Talaandig tribes. The indigenous peoples of Bukidnon are emotional over the issue of selling the Agus Pulangi Hydropower because privatizing Pulangi is like selling their souls. They identify themselves as Pulangiyon-Manobo, the Pulangi River is part of their identity, their heritage. The use of their river as a hydropower source should remain in their ownership and control. And the employees of NAPOCOR in Bukdinon showed their solidarity with the indigenous peoples saying privatization of power in the country is not good for the people.
